Island Hospital Blood Draw

Quantum remodeled several areas of Island Hospital’s main floor. The existing gift shop near the main entrance transformed into two additional semi-private registration areas for expedited patient intake, while the gift shop moved to a location adjacent to the main waiting area for visitors’ convenience. A private financial counselor’s office was also added to the main waiting area, as well as a pre-operation office. The main reception also received an upgraded work station to better facilitate visitors, with room for growth as the hospital grows. Finally, and making the largest impact, a section of mostly unused space centrally located in the hospital was gutted and completely renovated into a Blood Draw Laboratory. Previously, blood draws were performed in the cancer wing, regardless of purpose, dividing the use of that space and staff. The new blood draw lab is more convenient for patients and increases patient care both for blood draws and by freeing up cancer care staff. The blood draw lab includes its own private waiting area, four curtain-partitioned draw stations, a private specimen collection and restroom, and a private blood draw therapy room.
